Your first workspace
You may already have one#
Signing up without an invitation creates a workspace for you automatically, named Your first name's workspace, already holding a board called General and a wiki, on the free plan — nothing to start and no card to enter.
Signing up from an invitation does not: you join the workspace that invited you, with the role and board access it granted.
Creating a workspace#
- Click the Workspace switcher at the top of the sidebar.
- Click New workspace.
- Type a name (up to 200 characters) and click Create.
The free plan includes one workspace of your own. A second is refused with a message naming the limit; workspaces you were invited into do not count.
What a new workspace comes with#
A starter board called General#
One board, ready to use, renameable at any time.
Three status columns on that board#
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Backlog | Accepted, not started |
| In progress | Being worked on now |
| Done | Finished — the board's completion column |
See Statuses and workflow for what the completion flag does.
A wiki#
One wiki, named Wiki, with no pages in it — belongs to the workspace, so everyone in it can read it. See Wiki pages.
You are the owner#
Whoever creates the workspace becomes its owner — the only role that can start, change or cancel the subscription, or rename or delete the workspace. Ownership moves through a separate transfer, not the role dropdown. See Roles and permissions.
It starts on the free plan#
| Limit | On free | On Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Workspaces you own | 1 | Unlimited |
| Boards in this workspace | 3 | Unlimited |
| Billable seats | 3 | Unlimited |
| Storage | 100 MB | 10 GB per billable seat, pooled |
| Automation rules per board | 2 | Unlimited |
Nothing is taken away when you reach a limit — the action that would go past it is refused with a message naming the plan, the limit and your current usage.
